Elana Seaman has been my therapist for 2 years. She is wonderfully warm, understanding and real. She is down to earth,so refreshing for anyone in NYC. Together she has helped me with my postpartum depression, got me taking better care of myself, and facilitated many couples sessions with my husband and me. She meets me where I am without judgement, always with support and compassion. I'm so grateful for our work
together.

I had an extremely positive experience with Elana Seaman. She is caring, offers really great insight, and is an excellent listener. I felt comfortable with her immediately and noticed significant improvement in my confidence, anxiety, and overall mood while seeing her. Our sessions were filled with the perfect balance of talking about problems I was having and Elana providing helpful techniques and asking meaningful questions. I would recommend Elana to anyone looking for a great therapist. She is warm and kind and I looked forward to our weekly sessions. It was a huge release for me, and my weeks were easier knowing that I could talk to Elana about anything at our next session. Thank you, Elana!!!

- When I started therapy, I felt like my goal was to emerge as a different person; I felt like everything was wrong with me and needed repair. Through working with Elana, I did change a lot, but I did not become an entirely different person I realized instead I didn’t need to become a different person. I am still myself, just more secure, more supportive of myself, and more willing to let good things into my life. I can trust more in my own abilities and see more what I’m bringing
to the table. If you are looking for someone who will support you, who will hear you out, and who will empower you to feel you are capable and valuable, you should definitely give Elana a call. She will challenge you without pushing you further than you are ready to go; she works at your pace. She’s friendly and engaging to talk to. She really gets to know you and works with the person you are. If you want to work on being better to yourself, she is a great partner on that journey.

I have been working with Elana for the past 7+ years and i can honestly say that she has changed my life. With her patience, warmth, and gentle insights, she has guided my journey to being a confident,self-assured, and happy individual. I assure you that is not how i was when i first started working with Elana. I would even go as far as to say that she saved my life…. many times over. She helped me develop the wings I needed to fly, always knowing that she would be there
if I looked back. And now i’m not just flying, but soaring… and realizing my true self and taking control of my life. She has helped me overcome my fear, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. She’s helped me challenge power dynamics that suppressed me for so long. she’s helped me change the course of my future by helping me develop tools to manage my episodes of fear and self-doubt. I will always be grateful to Elana for helping me see that I have value and worth and power …. and that I can yield all of those qualities for the betterment of myself and those around me. A unique
thing about Elana is that she was able to work with me and my three siblings in a way that complemented each of our journeys. This can be a very tricky thing filled with risk, but Elana was able to expertly navigate this complicated dynamic. She always maintained confidentiality with each of us siblings, but somehow was able to positively influence and strengthen our relationship to one another as well.

-When life seemed too hard and unpredictable, I decided to try therapy for help. Elana was my first therapist and not knowing what to expect, she was patient and nonjudgmental. I was able to find a safe space to start peeling the onion back on my deep rooted issues. For the last 10 years, I have been fortunate enough to have a therapist who is personable, a great listener, and empathetic towards the many facets of my life. With my body image issues, family concerns, dating, boundary restructuring, and confidence building - Elana was able to give me the tools and guidance on how to change the things I wanted to be different. I am a stronger and more resilient person today, all which wouldn’t have been possible without Elana.

- Elana Seaman became my therapist in April of 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was struggling with debilitating, anxiety and PTSD, transphobia from my family, an eating disorder with two overlapping conditions, and other stressors at every turn. She’s been a crucial figure of support these last few years, and I can’t imagine them without her. She’s knowledgeable and very open minded, is empathetic and understanding, checks-in on how I feel she’s supporting me, is always gender-affirming, and always strives to do better. My anxiety has significantly gone down, I’ve healed more from my PTSD than I ever expected to, and ever have, with any other therapist, and have since found the encouragement, skills, and stability I needed to better take care of myself and my health, find those who will do the same, and recover from my ED and treat myself, and my body, better. I’ve also found the strength to finally call out my family for how they’ve treated
me since I came out transgender and they’re finally treating me the way I deserve to be treated though they’re still learning. Also, as a pagan polytheist, I never expected to find a therapist this supportive of my religious beliefs and spiritual practice. She’s a diamond in the rough, and Elana has absolutely saved my life. I’m feeling better than I ever have, and I can never thank her enough though I always try to. Thank you so much Elana!! I wouldn’t be here without you.

-For the past two years, I’ve worked consistently with Elana Seaman on a wide range of topics: particularly those centered around my cultural identity as a first-generation Indian-American. Coming into therapy, my self-concept was strained as I found my Indian- and American-selves at odds with each other. This split identity made it difficult for me to understand my place among my family, partner, and friends.
My discussions with Elana helped me develop, accept, and maintain a vision on life that I have always envisioned and desired for myself – a perspective that respected my interests in being both an Indian and an American. Elana is a patient listener with insightful questions that encouraged me to think about myself and my desired place in the world. She readily understood both my background and the perspectives of my family and community that I came from. Her wealth of experience and special expertise made questions feel welcome and her recommendations feel real and relatable. As a patient, I wanted a therapist that understands my immigrant background and culturally-split identity. Elana is exactly that as she has helped me bridge that ever-so-entwined cultural and mental gap. I highly recommend her to others in similar situations.

-I have been working with Elana Seaman for a year and a half and during this time she has helped tremendously progress and work on my personal hurdles therefore I would recommend her without a second thought.
What makes Elana a great therapist, according to my experience are the following characteristics
1)Her patience
2)Her focus to resolve a situation in a very systematic and structured way
3)Her experience
Elana’s patience matters without a doubt because she is an active listener, she doesn’t rush to draw conclusions but on the same time she suggests early on during the therapy process working hypotheses so as to attempt to identify specific causes for the hurdles. It is worth mentioning that I come from a different cultural background compared to hers, a more traditional culture compared to hers but this was never an issue to the understanding of my personal situation because we would dedicate as much time and energy required to deconstruct a situation. Elana is interested in helping the people she works with without having the slightest interest to prove herself right which is very helpful because this trait allows very open brainstorming and open-minded discussions and approaches to resolves one’s issues in a systematic way, suggesting hypotheses and rejecting them if they don’t hold true or accepting them if they do. But of course, one of the most important traits that distinguishes Elana is her experience that allows her to assess and identify correctly a situation and make comments and statements that are spot on each person’s issues and thus guide you discretely and securely during the psychotherapy process.
To summarize Elana Seaman is an exceptional therapist with high sense of professionalism.

Elana is an experienced, dedicated, and empathetic therapist who has helped me immensely on my journey of self-healing. Coming from a religious Asian background, she has helped me establish better boundaries with my parents, encouraged me to develop a healthier view of myself, and assisted me in discovering a newfound self-confidence. Over the past few years, she helped me come to terms with my cultural identity as an Asian-American, as well as maintain a respectful yet balanced view of my community’s values. Overall, she has helped me become a better version of myself; I highly recommend her to any person willing to put in the serious work and investment in mental health and personal growth.
